In the centre of historic Jaipur, this 150-year-old haveli (mansion) has been refurbished and is full of charm. Although no two rooms are alike, they are all exquisitely furnished with elegance and luxury; some even have a tiny patio outside. With huge canopied day beds to unwind on after a long day with a cool drink, the swimming pool and adjacent leisure area are truly stunning. In the evening, the centre courtyard is transformed into a mystical candlelit dining area, and the food is excellent.

The Property
Samode Haveli is a jewel that was formerly the mansion of the renowned Samode family. With its courtyards and garden, it is hard to imagine that you can walk out into the busy city streets from this haven of charm and character. It is also decorated with amazing paintings. Scattered throughout the house, the bedrooms, some cleverly constructed from secret areas of the palace, are exquisitely furnished in the proprietors’ excellent modern Rajasthani style. Mirrors cover nearly every surface of two of the suites, from the ceiling to the floor and from wall to wall. One of Jaipur’s best swimming pools, it features cosy “salas” and a lovely poolside bar.
